Residents of Lagos State who are not able to get tested in a government hospital can now pay the sum of N50,400 in a private laboratory to get COVID-19 test in the state.
Professor Akin Abayomi, the Lagos state commissioner for health, made this known while opening the Lagos State Private Public Consortium on the management of COVID-19 to increase the capacity of the Lagos state government in the management of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Abayomi also disclosed that though the tests were being conducted in laboratories owned by the federal government for free, the launched and approved laboratories will now be able to conduct COVID-19 test in Lagos state for a price ranging from N40,000 and N50,400.
They mentioned that this new development will solve apprehensive residents who are experiencing one form of symptoms or the other to get tested and get full attention from public hospitals or other facilities. They will not also have to worry themselves about the unavailability of testing kits after paying the cost.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi also disclosed that the inclusion of the private consortium in the testing was part of the motives to increased the COVID-19 response capacity in the state.
Recall sometime ago that Lagos State Government accredited three private hospitals for Coronavirus testing and treatment.
Lagos Commissioner for Health, identified as Akin Abayomi who disclosed this during a press briefing, said the accredited hospitals passed a biosecurity compliance test which was designed to reduce the risk of transmission of infectious diseases.
Akin Abayomi further stressed that three private hospitals that were accredited will still be under the supervision of the Lagos State Government Ministry of Health.
